IS AIG HIRING?

I am job hunting. If I don't find work soon, I will loose my home. One I have lived in for thirty years. I have cut back on every luxury I enjoyed in the recent past to conserve my severely reduced income.
As you read this Ed Liddy is addressing congress.

He is making all kinds of excuses as to why AIG has to give out the bonuses that everyone is upset about. He wants to keep the company going so that they can pay back the tax payer. If you believe that you are an unsuspecting simpleton, and if I do, so am I. Liddy says he has asked all those who received bonuses to return them, if they received more than $100,000. Liddy would not say who these people were. Barney Frank has threatened to subpoena their names. Liddy says that death threats have been received. His request for secrecy is merely to protect his employees. The payments made were retention payments. Payments made to keep employees in place. Employees who failed, miserably, at what they had to do. We, the people, kept them solvent. Why does AIG need to retain losers who failed at their jobs?

It turns out now that all this a smoke and mirrors. The funds doled out to AIG have gone to help foreign banks and Goldman Sachs. These institutions would have lost a great deal if they had not received funds through AIG. So it was not just to protect stockholders, it was to protect many of their partners in crime.
This morning Newt Gingrich, in his letter on the internet has offered these facts to enlighten the American people. We have given AIG $170 billion which boils down to $1224 per tax payer. Personally, that would have made four car payments for me. It would have helped pay a third of one months mortgage, it would have given me free utilities for eight months and telephone services for a whole year. On the national front, Newt says that $170 billion would have allowed us to double the number of aircraft carriers in out Navy’s fleet. Two million Americans could have got a four year education at a public university for that money.

WE COULD HAVE GIVEN MORE THAN 40 MILLIION DOLLARS TO EACH FAMILY WHO HAS LOST A SOLDIER IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN WITH THAT MONEY!!!

Instead we are dolling this money out to dead beat losers who are threatening to resign if they have to give back these bonuses. All these facts serve as an indication of exactly how much money is at play here. The American people have become desensitized to the words used to quantify money. We hear the word “billion” so often that it doesn’t have the effect it should, anymore. Now, thanks to Newt Gingrich and other watch dogs who are looking out for us, we know.

We need to stand up and let our feeling be known. After all, when was the last time you got $1224 free of charge…..?
For a family of four that would be almost $5000.
Are we mad?
You bet we are!
