Memories are made of this?

What is it with Politicians and remembering things they did and said. Why are they possessed of faulty long term memory? We have seen it all through our history. Even my hero, Ronald Reagan said, “I do not recall….” It was a temporary attack of the “Feet of Clay” syndrome.
Now Ms. Pelosi seems to remember the Bush administration briefing on torture quite differently to every other person at the briefing. Peter Goss, erstwhile chief of the CIA and several other Republicans are accusing Pelosi of selective memory. It’s all part of the blame Bush game. As long as Bush and his administration remains a viable target for blame about anything, he will be used for such. What happened to looking forward? If the Democrats are determined to look back and rehash things which are long past, then they must take the fallout with it.
Right now Pelosi should be concentrating her mental and political resources on pushing through the Euro-Socialist agenda of the Obama Administration including the first-of-a-kind several trillion dollar budget, health care reform, the cap-and-trade proposal and additional funding for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Instead she is backing a truth commission which will root out what actually happened with the torturing of those poor blameless terrorists. Huh…as long as they don’t dig up too much truth about Madam Speaker…

Let's Have Some Fun and Try Everyone....

Now the Obama Administration is going after George Bush’s counsels. This is, indeed, a great precedent to set. Every successive administration can investigate and try the previous one to appease supporters and frighten Presidential advisors into not speaking their minds when advising the Chief Executive.

Obama himself has waffled several times on this. At first he seemed to be taking the high road and rejecting any possibility of investigating the former President’s attorneys. Then George Soros and his left wing supporters got to him. The following day it suddenly became something that the Attorney General had to decide. Perhaps this is a good example of the complete lack of experienced leadership referred to several times during the campaign of last year, especially by the Presidents Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton.

If this goes through and I seriously doubt it will (how will he justify looking ahead and being bipartisan if he does go after Bush advisors) then we have to dig up Harry Truman and try him for wiping out several thousand Japanese in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We should also dig up FDR and try him for killing millions of Germans during the merciless bombing of industrial German in the Rohr Valley in 1944/45. How about Abraham Lincoln, whom Obama attempts to identify with all the time? Mr. Lincoln locked up the Governor of Maryland because of opposition to the emancipation proclamation and suspended Habeas Corpus for several confederate States during the Civil War. What about FDR, the Democrats previous messiah? Remember the Japanese internment camps? Shall we exhume Johnson and Kennedy and try them for Vietnam and Laos? Think Operation Rolling Thunder (if you’re a lefty…Google it).

The list will never end. Many Presidents have had to make concessions for national security or to win a war. But we aren’t at war. Remember? It is an Overseas Contingency Action! Who wins an Overseas Contingency Action? The Bush administration, in the awful days following the worst attack on American soil by her enemies did what they felt they had to do. They kept us safe while Japan, Italy, Spain and Great Britain all suffered attacks which killed their citizens. But Bush haters, who were the people who got Obama into the big house on Pennsylvania Avenue, simply wouldn’t be able to accept that. As far as they’re concerned, Bush, Cheney and Rove never ever did anything right.

My question is simply this. When will President Obama show a little leadership and stand up to George Soros, the zealots in the Daily Kos and Media Matters and Move –On.Org and do what he knows is the right thing.

Watch out Shylock!

Do not let it ever be said that I do not give the Devil his due. Or the President. On most things I vehemently disagree with him. I believe that he demeaned America by shaking hands with Chavez. I also believe that talking with Achmedinajad would give that sewer vermin legitimacy. But those are President Obama plans and he deserves to try them out.

The point of this post is to separate myself from the lunatic left that never found anything redeemable with George Bush and Dick Cheney. I am not like that. I believe that President Obama is, this very day, handling something that is important to average Americans.

President Obama will investigate the lending practices of U.S. credit card companies today and, in doing so, will deal with an issue that has angered consumers of credit who have been bled by high fees and interest rates.

As an example, my sister, who is diligent with her credit card payments, received a letter from a credit card company, I cannot remember which one, that told her that since her balance was more than 65% of her credit limit, her interest rate was going up by 15% to (are you ready for this?) 23%. It was one of those companies who had offered her a card four years ago at some ridiculously low interest rate.

Now on the other side of the spectrum, my credit practices border on the profligate. My payments are frequently late and for about half of the time I pay the minimum. I know that this means that I will die in debt (to Capitol One and Wells Fargo and Bank of America) but so will our country. And, what's good enough for the greatest country on earth is good enough for me. But I am being facetious. While I deserve to die in debt for my consistently feckless spending habits, I do not deserve to pay 30% on my credit card balances when I am a few days late with a payment.

Like most Americans, I never read the fine print. Isn't that how everyone got in trouble with home loans in which variable rates could soar to unimaginable heights? They never bothered to read that this was a possibility for their loans.

Americans don't read fine print.

While I am not touting this behavior as something noble, I am saying that the average American expects to trust financial institution to provide their services with some fiduciary responsibility. We are a trusting people. This is why our enemies usually bank on to get the better of us. (Think Pearl Harbor and the Japanese, and more recently, the pirates of Somalia).

By the same token, we trust that the people, who offered us credit cards, do not carry the same

Mitochondrial DNA as Shylock, that monetary leech in Merchant of Venice.shylock-classic1.jpg

God knows we've learned the hard way, which this trust is severely misplaced.

Now President Obama is doing something about this, and good for him. This is one area where I hope he succeeds. I am not normally an advocate of rewarding irresponsible behavior. Doing so would make me sound terribly liberal. It makes me sound as though I want Big Brother to rescue me after I am in trouble because I spent too much. That is not the case. But taking advantage of people with interest rates as high as 30% is against the laws of God and the US Constitution.bags-of-money.jpg

The President is asking for the reduction of fine print and legalize in credit card contracts. He is requiring that credit card companies make it easier for consumers to comparison shop. He wants drastic reductions in penalties and interest hikes for delinquent accounts. Finally he wants oversight for this industry. I wonder if he checked with his own Vice President. Wasn't it Biden who sponsored and then worked hard for the passage of the Bill which changed the bankruptcy laws to make things better for credit cards companies?

But I shouldn't be diluting my praise of our President with referencesa to Biden's treachery....

The President is doing something worthy, and God Bless his for that. I, for one, hopes he succeeds.

Tough Road to Hoe!

I recently signed up with the Patriotic Resistance in California and nationwide. The purpose if the movement is to take a leaf out of the Obama Presidential campaign of last fall enter the electronic age, use the internet to rally support and organize a grass roots conservative ground swell of people who still believe conservative causes. People who are part of what was once called the silent majority.

As their collective concerns they list the following: Illegal Alien Amnesty and Open Borders, Globalism and Transnationalism, Socialism, Tax Increases, Climate Alarmism, Judicial Activism, Universal Healthcare, Gun Control and Social Liberalism. There isn’t anything on this list I disagree with.

As a part of the sign-up deal I was encouraged to invite friends to join up as well. I did this; inviting all my address book contacts to join up. As a practicing Catholic, many of the people in my address book are also practicing Catholics and I felt sure they would sign-up. I was shocked at what I learned from the responses I received. Many, many people who, being devout Catholics, I was certain would not support President replied and said that they were solidly behind the President pro-choice stance and all.

What is it about this that is hard to believe? What has happened to people who would abandon their beliefs in support of a man who is so anti-life? Is this a snap shot of what the GOP has to do to win again? Is this a flavor of the roast we have to cook to get back in control?
We better start praying…
I pray that God is still willing to Bless America…

No Freedom of Speech For You!

Today the Wall Street Journal reported, in an article on page one above the fold, that President Obama's administration is "starting a broad effort in Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent the Taliban from using radio stations and Web sites....that Taliban fighters use to broadcast threats, decrees and rules of engagement."

I must have been malnourished as a child, during the time when the part of my cerebellum which controls critical thinking was in the development stage, because there is something here that I don't understand about this policy.

Isn't this the same administration which swore to and then developed plans to close Guantanamo Bay because those terrorists deserved the right to Habeas Corpus in US courts? We couldn't just hold those poor guys just because they had been captured trying to destroy America. Isn't this the same administration that has changed the nomenclature of the War on Terror to something resembling "A Foreign Contingency Action" because as the Washington Post put it, "the damage these three words have done -- a classic self-inflicted wound - is infinitely greater than any wild dreams entertained by the fanatical perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks when they were plotting against us in distant Afghan caves."

Isn't this the same administration which refuses to call the Islamic vermin who want to obliterate our American way of life, "terrorists?"

So are the far left liberals who brung Obama to the dance, going to stand by while we deprive the noble freedom fighters of the Taliban and Al Qaeda of their fundamental right to freedom of speech. Jamming radio stations and closing down websites? I ask you? What would Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and Madison say about this? The founders must be spinning fast enough in their graves to generate enough power to keep the whole western grid happy for ten years.

You see, all progressive liberals believe that all American rights extend to everyone on the planet, including our enemies. Remember when Rosie O'Donnell said that the Taliban and Al Qaeda were also "just moms and dads"? ( no one reminded Rosie that Goering, Himmler and Eichmann were also moms and dads). This is akin to the administration asking that the suit against AT&T and the Federal Government regarding the releasing of cell phone records be dropped because it would damage the ...er...War on...or no, I am sorry..."the Foreign Contingency Action."

Mr. Obama is abandoning some of the elitist principles that he used to condemn Dick Cheney, George Bush and Karl Rove. Perhaps there's some kind of electronic device in the Oval office that Dick Cheney uses to take over the minds of all who enter therein....and Obama, now, just isn't the Obama that we knew and loved a few months ago and the change we got isn't the change we all expected?

As a Conservative Reagan Republican (remember "peace through strength" and "trust but verify" ?), my sides are aching from laughing so hard.

The Obama administration should charge for entertainment of this elevated quality. The revenue could be used to fund the national health plan.

Let the Seals do the Job!

The success of the Navy Seals in taking out the pirates is finally proof that the worst enemies we face during a war are the politicians who decide to go to war in the first place. If you believe that a fighting force that contains experts like this patriot could not have ended the war in Iraq and Afghanistan within one year, then you are an idiot.

Please write a comment and tell me why you believe this.

Surely you must agree that it is the politicians who make all the stupid rules. Rules that will not allow our fighting forces to bomb or straif mosques, hospitals, orphanages, and aspirin factories, when our intelligence knows that all of these erstwhile buildings are safe houses for enemy combatants. If we could just get the damned politicians out of the picture, our military would clean out our enemies like so much vermin, just as the seal obliterated those scrawny little parasites in the Indian Ocean.

Shed HIS Grace on Thee!

Glenn Beck gets emotional very easily. He and I share this trait. Both of us start blubbering like idiots at the drop of a hat. It’s hard to make someone take you seriously when you are misty eyed and your lower lip is quivering like an aspen leaf.

Beck had an emotional moment today when he spoke about his mother. She committed suicide when he was a teenager. His message was very down-to-earth and easy to understand. Basically he said that America was facing a great deal of trouble and that being “un-hooked from God” we would never survive.

It got me thinking. As an immigrant who watched America prosper, from 15000 miles away, I often wondered why it continued to prosper. Then it occurred to me that there was a distinct possibility that the blessings of God were always bestowed on America almost to the exclusion of many other places, perhaps because America earned it. Every founding paper mentioned a creator with great respect and reverence. National monuments have Divine dictums carved into their marble slabs, and the main founding document declares, unassailably, that our rights are bestowed by a benevolent Creator.

The Psalms say that the man who reveres the name of God and honors his name will be blessed. And so it is with our country. Heaven forbid we forget this path. Heaven forbid that America forgets to honor the name of God. I, for one, do not want to go there. I love this land, and I want the almighty, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, to have a watchful eye on it, continuously.

A Week of Really Bad Diarrhea to America!

Yesterday evening, while on Sean Hannity's show at Fox, Denis Prager said that liberals have an undiluted need to be loved. They want minorities to love their party. The want the whole world, the French, the Italians, the Spanish and all the rest, to love the President. They want the world to love America. The quintessential liberals on Capital, Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, Chuck Schumer and Harry Reed all want to be loved by everyone in both houses. They want the people to love them. This is way the whole Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac debacle started. It was liberals forcing them to make affordable loans to people who couldn't afford those loans. A Home for everyone. Plenty of love to spread around.

As parents, liberals want their children to love them and so real parenting is put on the back burner. Tough love is a vast right wing conspiracy. Liberal teachers want to be loved by all their students and so discipline disappears and so does "Reading, Riting and Rithmethic."

While fighting a war on terror, they really don't want the terrorists to hate us. Well, not quite as much. So if we do things correctly, as in changing the way we refer to the war on terror or terrorists themselves, the boisterous, rioting crowds on the streets of Tehran, will shout a modified slogan, instead of death to America, perhaps it will turn into, "Severe Gout to America!" Or, "A week of Really Bad Diarrhea to America!" and America will no longer be the Devil of the West (their word for it is Shaithan) America will only be the Fallen Angel of the West. Liberals seem to have this "lion will lay down with the lamb" attitude towards life. Unfortunately, as admirable as that attitude is and Biblical to boot, it is unrealistic when dealing with fanatic religious zealots who are convinced that it is noble to kill innocents in the name of God. If someone mentions the Crusades, I will puke.

The righteous anger displayed by all the Democrats on the Hill over the AIG bonuses turned out to have been completely feigned. The permissibility of the bonuses was

written into the bill by none other than Chris Dodd at the bidding of the Obama Administration. It is that need to be loved once again. AIG and her executives might have been really ruining things and hemorrhaging money like a head wound, but they were allowed to keep their bonuses, because heaven forbid, they should not love us as much were they deprived of something they didn't deserve.

The same rule holds true for the many people who think that entitlements are their right. The country owes them a living, a home, health care, child care and an education. Liberals have encouraged the entitlement attitude. There is a whole generation with this attitude tattooed on their very souls. It has worked, in as much as minorities and those waiting for handouts love the Democrat party. This will be the biggest obstacle for the GOP to win over Hispanics who have the same values as the GOP, but consistently vote Democrat in national elections

What would Tom Jefferson have said?

In the Declaration of Independence  he spoke of unalienable rights given us by the Creator. Those rights included Life (something that liberals routinely deny the unborn for convenience sake), Liberty ( again denied by anyone who wants to fend for himself, especially people of color) and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Pay great attention to the word "pursuit". The dictionary defines pursuit thusly: The act of pursuing. An effort to secure or attain. A quest the one is engaged in. It sounds like a sweat popping activity to me.

Jefferson didn't promise happiness. He didn't promise success either. Life and liberty are unquestionably guaranteed, but happiness is not. You are guaranteed the freedom to pursue it. To race after it. To chase it. And we all know that races are frequently lost even by those who strive with all they have to give!

The definition contains two words that might be disappearing from our lexicon. Effort and quest. Both of them require too much trouble; why bother.
